For the latest installment of the Ikea “Made by…” campaign, we teamed up with our pals at Ogilvy to give a drab white bedroom a good old-fashioned “spoon full of sugar.” The stop motion animation style, with its early fantasy roots and slightly camp quality, felt perfectly suited to the spot’s “snapping” theme, but (of course) we couldn’t resist introducing some sophistication by throwing an elaborate pre-viz and some motion control, some stop motion plates, and extreme lighting shifts into the mix.
No one ever said in-camera effects were easy, but 3,628,800 stop motion frames later, we think it was well worth the hustle. (That’s three grueling fourteen-hour days of shooting x 60 minutes x 60 seconds x 24 frames per second for all you math geeks.)
Big fluffy BNS hugs to everyone who made it happen.
