As the actual line-up of Waymo vehicles was still in development, we collaborated closely with Waymo's car designers to create the perfect embodiment of Waymo vehicles for the film.
While the vehicles were intended to be the main focus, we also thought it important to develop a diverse and inclusive cast of supporting characters for our audience to connect with.
Given that Waymo had not yet secured agreements with pilot cities, we decided to design a nondescript city that would feel familiar yet also somewhat utopian.
Visualizing a technology that cannot be seen was no easy feat. However, we confidently aimed to create a design that was true to the engineering while also being accessible to a non-technical audience. We consulted extensively with Waymo's engineers and developed a key visual that was applied to all vehicle designs.
We confidently brought the logo to life with a friendly animation style. These enduring elements were thoughtfully designed with a motion style that perfectly complements the branding system.
How do you illustrate Waymo’s vision and reassure the world that their self-driving vehicles are not only safe but the path towards to brighter future?
Ease audiences’ fear to get them excited. With more technology than competing autonomous vehicles, Waymo is the safest self-driving car in development.
Take the viewer on a journey of the different Waymo experiences while translating the safety measures into understandable visual concepts.
